Telephone Calls & Requets

TELEPHONING YOUR DOCTOR

In the interest of Privacy, and providing Safe & Highest Quality Health Care, the doctors we support will now no longer be taking phone calls during consultations except in extreme circumstances that require their emergency medical advice. In most cases, the reception staff or registered nursing staff may be able to assist you. Messages may be left to the attention of your doctor with priority and will be passed onto your doctor as soon as practicable who then respond as appropriate.

Although most problems are best dealt with in consultation, your doctor may be available during normal surgery hours for emergency advice. Our staff can assist by liaising with your doctor and nursing staff to decide whether the matter requires an appointment, a return phone call from your doctor or urgent advice. Your doctor may be able to accept phone calls and give medical advice, discuss x-ray and pathology results on a limited basis throughout the day unless emergency.

To obtain the outcome of your results the doctors we support require that their patients make another appointment with their  doctor. The doctors we support believe that better management of your health will be achieved by requiring this.

TESTS & RESULTS:

The Practice will not be able to provide you results of your pathology tests over the telephone. Test results are followed up by your doctor. The doctors we support require that their patients book a follow-up appointment with their doctor for further face to face discussion for safe & highest quality health management. Reception staff can neither provide nor discuss results by phone or in person as they are not medically trained. In limited circumstances, your doctor may accept telephone call in relation to the provision of results. Please discuss this with your doctor to understand whether this is available to you.

MEDICAL CERTIFICATE

MEDICAL CERTIFICATE: It is illegal to predate or post date any medical certificates. Patients must be seen by their doctor on the day a certificate is required. If a patient requires a medical certificate to be re-issued for the date seen, a fee (generally of $5.00) may be charged by their doctor to cover the cost incurred.

REPEAT PRESCRIPTION

Your doctor may in certain circumstances provide their patients with prescriptions of medications without an appointment.  Generally, the doctors we support request their patients to make an appointment for prescriptions, particularly where their last appointment was more than two months ago. To request a prescription without an appointment, the doctors consulting from the practice request that their patients contact the practice and provide the receptionist with patient name, DOB, and details (name, strength, doses and frequency) of medications required. The receptionist will then pass this information onto your doctor for them to consider. The doctors we support request that their patients order medications at least 5 days in advance. A fee (generallyof $4.00* is charged for all repeat prescriptions and $5.00* for Authority scripts requested and picked up by you or $ 5.00 if needed to be faxed to your chemist) may be charged by your doctor. This fee is charged by your doctor in their discretion.

* Price subject to change without prior notice in your doctor’s discretion.

REPEAT XRAY FORM

We advise you to keep your X-Ray form in safe place and do not forget take with you when you go to X-Ray Department for the test. However, with valid reasons, your doctor may be willing to  be reprinted on your request by phone. A fee (generally of $5.00) may be charged by your doctor.

REFERRAL LETTER:

It can be prepared by your doctor on your request by phone.  A fee (generally of $5.00 to $15) will be charged by your doctor in their discretion depending on the complexity and time spent for preparation.
