Do the Doctors You Support Bulk Bill?

The doctors we support offer mixed billing appointments to their patients however they may bulk bill patients who are on a Pension Card, Health Care Card, Veterans Affairs Card or children under 16 years. Your consultation fees will be calculated by your doctor in their discretion.

Do You Support Any Female GPs?

Yes, we support both female and male doctors at the practice. The practice also has a fully qualified well trained registered nurse, Sally Cotterrel who runs a clinic for “Well Women Checks” once a month.

Does the Doctor You Support Take New Patients?

Yes, the doctors we support are happy to accept appointment bookings from new patients and a double appointment be booked by their new patients for their first appointment. You can read the requirements for new patients in “New Patient Information Kit”.

Do I Need Make An Appointment With My Doctor Or Can I Call In For Medical Emergency?

Generally, the doctors we support don’t require their patients to book an appointment for a medical emergency, you can call in if you are nearby and inform our friendly receptionists immediately on arrival who will then be able to notify your doctor. Our practice nurse may assist your doctor by assessing and triaging you before discussing your emergency with your doctor. If you are at home, please ring our friendly receptionists on 03 6442 220103 6442 2201 or 03 6442 220203 6442 2202 and mention you need urgent medical attention and need to talk to our triage nurse for telephone assessment and advice for appropriate action to be taken.

Is the surgery wheelchair friendly?

Yes, the practice has a designated disabled car park at back of the surgery and easily accessible for wheelchairs and gophers. The practice also has its own wheel chair for use if needed

Do The Doctors You Support Immunise Children?

Yes they do. The child will need an appointment with their doctor and also a nurse.

How Long Are Patients Booked For A Normal Appointment?

Most of the doctors we support book 10-15 minute appointments with their patients but request their patients book longer appointments if they feel they need longer than this, e.g. PAP smear, Counselling, pre-employment medicals. If you are unsure when booking an appointment with your doctor, please inform the reception staff when making your appointment so that we can discuss this with your doctor to ensure that adequate time can be allocated.

What If I Miss My Appointment?

Wherever possible, it would be appreciated if you could ring us to let us know if you are not attending your appointment with your doctor. The doctors we support reserve the right to charge a missed appointment fee (generally $15), in their discretion. Please be aware that this charge does not attract a MEDICARE REBATE.

Do The Doctors You Support Run Specialised Clinics?

The doctors we support with the support of our nurses run diabetic clinics, asthma clinics as well as immunisation and children’s health check clinics. Please enquire with our staff should you have any questions.

Do I Need A Referral To See An Allied Health Provider??

Yes, normally you need to see your doctor for a referral to see Allied Health Providers to obtain a medicare rebate. If you have private health cover, you still need a GP referral to get a rebate. We support a Psychologist, a Diabetes Educator and an Audiometrist who consult from Wynyard Medical Centre.

I Just Need A Script – Do I Have To Make An Appointment To See My Doctor?

In general, the doctors we support require that their patients make an appointment if they require a prescription to assess the need for the prescription. Where a medication is ongoing, your doctor may write a script without a clinical consultation in their discretion. In this instance, your doctor may charge a fee (generally $4).

I Was Sick Last Week, Can My Doctor Write A Back-Dated Medical Certificate On Appointment?

It is illegal for your doctor to predate or post date any medical certificates. The doctors we support require that their patients book an appointment to be seen by them on the day a certificate is required. If you require a medical certificate to be re-issued for the date seen, your doctor may charge a fee (generally of $5.00).

I Need A Referral Letter For My Specialist – Can My Doctor Backdated?

Medicare rules prohibit the backdating of referral letters and as such, the doctors we support WILL NOT issue backdated referral letters. In addition, they ask that their patients book an appointment for the need for a referral letter be assessed. In certain circumstances, it can be prepared by your doctor on your request by phone. Your doctor may charge a fee (generally of $5.00 to $15) depending on the complexity and time spent for preparation.

Do I Need An Appointment With My Doctor For My Results?

on the doctors we support apply the principle that if an investigation is important enough to be performed, it should be important enough to be followed up, hence they require that results are conveyed in the context of a follow up consultation with their patient.
